Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator

Kaal Sarp Yoga is present when every one of the seven classical planets falls on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. This checks your chart planet by planet and tells you how close the case actually is.

What is actually being tested

Rahu and Ketu always sit exactly opposite one another, so together they cut the chart in half. The condition is met when the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn — all seven — fall within the same half. One planet on the other side is enough for the full yoga not to form.

Full, partial, or not present

Many charts sit near the boundary, with six of the seven on one side. That is usually called anshik (partial) Kaal Sarp, and it is a genuinely different situation from the full yoga. The result here says which of the three it is and how many planets sit on each side, rather than collapsing everything into a yes or a no.

Keeping it in proportion

Kaal Sarp has a heavy reputation and it is worth remembering that it is a geometric condition — it depends on where the nodes happen to be, and the nodes move slowly, so the condition clusters in certain birth periods. Classical opinion on its severity is far from unanimous.

Frequently asked

What is anshik Kaal Sarp?

The partial case, where six of the seven planets are on one side of the axis. It is reported separately here because it is not the full yoga.

Do Uranus, Neptune and Pluto count?

No. The classical test uses the seven traditional grahas only.

Does Kaal Sarp Dosh last a whole life?

It is a feature of the birth chart, so it does not come and go. How much weight to give it is an interpretive question.

Will this agree with my Kundli page?

Yes — the same computed chart and the same rule are used in both places.
